Chapter 7 – Leading two lives

Bronwyn had taken up fishing in the little pond on their land. Aleksei was on a late at the command centre and Bronwyn was alone, feeling tired and confused and fishing to help her think.

She almost felt like she had two lives and she loved them both, but they never met and she wondered if one day it would all come crashing down and she would have to choose.

Her job as a junior doctor was getting more and more interesting. She was not just taking samples from patients, but analysing them and even manning the up to date x-ray machines.

She loved the variability and not knowing what her day would hold.

Bronwyn now earned more money and Aleksei had been promoted to Command Centre Lead. It meant longer hours and some shifts, but Bronwyn could see he loved it.

With the extra money coming in they had been able to expand their house. Now they had a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen diner/sitting room and had been able to afford some wallpaper at last.

Their chicks were grown up now.

They had bought a cow called Clara.

Aleksei had proved to have a very green thumb and they were growing different herbs and vegetables. It felt like they had their own small farm.

Their friends Ann and David had surprised everyone, including themselves by having twin girls.

Verity and Ottillie were a handful, but both Bronwyn and Aleksei loved to help with the girls. It gave Bronwyn a warm, fuzzy feeling watching Aleksei play with them. She kept telling herself soon it would be their turn.

Then there was her second life. When Aleksei had to work shifts, she would find her feet taking her through the forest to the portal, she couldn’t help herself.

She had made many new friends and was best friends with Simeon and she was learning more and more every time she came to visit.

He had even taught her a spell to produce a plate full of yummy food.

She had bought her first wand, she didnt need it to cast magic, but it felt right wielding it in her hand.

Simeon had introduced her to magical duels and she was hooked. They were all friendly, but she got such a buzz testing her skills against others and she could feel her power growing.

She knew this was who she was meant to be, but what would Aleksei think if he found out. If they had children would they be like her? She knew she should speak to him, but as time went on it just got harder and harder.

  1. Love the second pic, where she’s looking the patient’s nose.

Bronwyn has got to tell Aleksei. Secrets are never good…
